Frederick Worrell

My name is Frederick and I am a Croydon-based award-winning Māori artist and designer. I create contemporary art pieces, graphic design work and photography, as well as commissioned pieces for individuals and businesses direct from my studio in London.

As an indigenous New Zealander living abroad, I have enjoyed creating and exploring my indigenous heritage from afar in a global context. I do this by using a variety of processes, materials, theory and techniques that add texture and definition to my style of work. Moving to the UK has ironically allowed me to reconnect with and reflect upon my Māori identity.

I love creating bright, vibrant pieces. I like how art can challenge people’s thinking. I love how it can inspire and create an emotional response. I create aesthetically beautiful, decadent pieces - statement pieces - that make people feel great inside.

The essence of my work is inspired by nature, texture and colour which can be seen in the strong use of gestures and movement in my brush strokes.

After a career in commercial/residential interiors and furniture design and achieving many design awards, locally, nationally and internationally in my native New Zealand, I moved to the United Kingdom in 2014 with my wife and two children to seek new opportunities and expand my global awareness.

As well as producing new paintings and art to add to my own collection, I also work on commissions for private clients across the world. Please feel free to REACH OUT contact me to discuss your requirements or any questions you may have.

Kind regards
