Ruth Huntley
Ruth was born in Melbourne, Australia and from childhood loved drawing.
She studied fine arts at Melbourne University and gained a Secondary Teachers Qualification in Art and Crafts, then teaching for several years in Morwell High School, Gippsland, Victoria.
Then for nearly 40 years she lived and worked in eight different countries in Southeast Asia, in Christian missionary work. She was involved in teaching English and History, producing art work for book illustrations, posters, visual-aids and TV programmes for schools. She also taught in refugee camps, all alongside family life with three children.
Only in recent years, in retirement has it been possible to indulge in the delights of painting for pleasure; especially painting landscapes. She enjoys watercolour with a special interest in light and colour, pen-and-ink work, and most recently trying acrylics.
Ruth joined CAS in 2014 and also belongs to, and exhibits with, West Wickham and Caterham Art groups.
