My artistic background is eclectic beginning in my early years and has continued to develop as a means of self-expression and self-reflection for my entire life, so far.  I began my creative studies in my early 20’s, practising pottery, screen-printing; also a 2 year diploma course at Croydon College in Advanced Printmaking and Bookbinding.  Following that I studied at Camberwell Art School on the BA Joint Honours, practising Ceramics and Fine Art.  I developed a love of making Ceramic Sculpture.  When I’d completed my degree I had all intentions of setting up a Ceramic studio, however the need to earn a living was more urgent, so I went ahead and did a PGCE at Greenwich University.  After that I spent many years teaching, mostly in Primary schools.  It has not always been easy to keep going as an artist, so there have been many periods when I have not produced much, however I have always managed to keep my ‘hand in’ a creative process, in some form or another.  In 2009 I did a one year course at the Mary Ward Centre, the course gave artists opportunities to develop their work and ideas, learn how to promote work, plan and execute exhibitions, and create a website.  The course gave me confidence and I began painting in acrylics on canvas for the first time.  My imagery has in the past been mostly abstract, pattern based with many influences from indigenous cultures and eastern religion.   More recently I spent a year studying colour with Abigail Downer at the Mary Ward Centre, I learned to develop a love for observational painting from life and to loosen up my style and palette. Currently, I continue to teach children privately and I paint in my spare time.  I am learning to paint in oils now.
